Infographic
This Music Therapy poster was created to complement the design of the accompanying app, illustrating the positive effects that different music genres can have on mental health. Based on a survey of 1,455 Americans, the poster visually represents data on how specific music genres help alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety.
The flowing, colorful lines symbolize the connection between sound and emotional well-being, while the structured layout provides clear information for viewers to engage with. By highlighting the potential of music to improve mood and mental health, this design not only informs but inspires users to explore how music can positively impact their emotional state.
This project is part of a larger initiative that includes an app and video campaign, aimed at raising awareness of music's therapeutic benefits for mental health and creating resources that can help individuals use music as a tool for emotional support.

According to Spotify, there are over 1,300 music genres, but only a number of those genres play a positive role in someone’s mental health. Music therapy may be helpful for people with depression and anxiety, sleep disorders, and even cancer. In a survey of 1,455 Americans, ranging from ages 18-71, it was concluded that approximately 20% of people use music therapy for mental health. This survey helped identify their music preferences to help uplift their mood when feeling depressed or anxious. For example, 14.3% of the people surveyed listen to Rock to help with their anxiety. This data focuses on music therapy on depression and anxiety because research has shown a link between mental health disorders, such as schizophrenia, being caused by high levels of anxiety and severe depression.
